The QOV 50 for 50 Challenge
This year, the guild is celebrating their 50th anniversary with a special project sharing our talents and resources with U.S. veterans. The goal is to create at least 50 Quilts of Valor to honor and thank 50 U.S. veterans for their service to our country. We will work closely with the northern Illinois Land of Lincoln Quilts of Valor organization.
A quilt may be awarded to a relative or friend specified by the quiltmaker or to a veteran nominated by a non-member through the Land of Lincoln QOV.
If you would like to nominate a veteran to receive your quilt complete this nomination form and send it to Bernadette Schnitzenbaumer (bgkap79@yahoo.com).
We’ve exceeded TWICE our goal!
We surpassed our first 50 quilts, and we just keep on going! Here’s our progress as of November. Stay tuned for a monthly update as our members continue to make Quilts of Valor.

Our quilters worked on, completed, and made blocks for QOV award quilts. Some ladies received zipper bags for quilts they completed “for the cause.”

Quilters at this event had a fun and productive day. Rita Pennington, the Northern Illinois representative for Quilts of Valor, paid us a special visit! She inspired us and taught us how to award a QOV to a veteran.
